DeSantis, Diaz referred to as ‘creepy’ by Fried over DOE memo on LGBTQ rights

Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried lambasted state Republican leaders Friday for bringing the tradition wars to the varsity cafeteria. 

In response to a Florida Division of Schooling memo that stated college districts can ignore federal intercourse discrimination tips, Fried criticized Gov. Ron DeSantis and Schooling Commissioner Manny Diaz for encouraging colleges districts to disregard federal anti-discrimination regulation and danger the lack of federal funds without spending a dime or reduced-price college meals.

“I’ll simply come out and name this precisely what that is,” Fried stated. “It is extremism politics getting in the best way of feeding our kids. I can’t enable Gov. DeSantis or anybody to disclaim meals to hungry children for any cause.”

Agriculture and Shopper Providers is headed by Fried, the lone statewide elected Democrat. She’s vying for the Democratic nomination for governor towards U.S. Rep. Charlie Crist to run towards DeSantis.
